Kevin Bieksa to Headline the 2027 RBC JCC Sports Dinner in Vancouver

CANUCKS FAN FAVOURITE AND HOCKEY BROADCASTING STAR KEVIN BIEKSA JOINS THE LINEUP

The RBC JCC Sports Dinner is thrilled to announce Kevin Bieksa as the 2027 guest speaker. A beloved former Vancouver Canucks defenceman and one of hockey’s sharpest (and least filtered) broadcasters, Bieksa brings the perfect mix of hockey smarts and big personality to this year’s stage. Expect great stories, honest takes, and no line changes on the charm.

The RBC JCC Sports Dinner, now in its 34th year, is Vancouver’s premier networking event for a good cause. This annual in-person fundraiser for the Jewish Community Centre (JCC) of Greater Vancouver takes place on February 23, 2027, at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. This philanthropic event is where champions go to give back each year. It features a three-course meal, hosted bar, raffles, live and silent auctions, Olympic athletes, Jack Diamond Award winners, and much more.

Kevin Bieksa, 2027 guest speaker at the RBC JCC Sports Dinner in Vancouver

“We think Kevin is a great fit as our Guest Speaker,” says Jess Musoke, Director of Special Events and Sponsorship at the JCC. “With his unique perspective as both a player and a commentator — not to mention his fantastic rapport with Vancouver fans and candid storytelling — we’re sure it’s going to be a great night!”

For a decade, Bieksa patrolled the Canucks blue line with equal parts skill, grit, and swagger. Vancouver hockey fans will never forget “Bieksa’s Bounce,” his overtime Game 7 winner that sent the Canucks to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. He later skated with the Anaheim Ducks before trading his shin pads for a headset and bringing his gritty, outspoken approach to the broadcast booth.

But Bieksa never really left Vancouver, and Vancouver never left him. In 2022, he signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a Canuck, the shortest deal of his career (and one that was a long time coming, as it was delayed by the pandemic). He laced up his skates once more for a victory lap in front of the home crowd at Rogers Arena.

Today, Bieksa is a fixture on Sportsnet’s Saturday Night Hockey, kicking off a new era in Canadian NHL broadcasting. He’s never met an opinion he wouldn’t share, or a hot take he couldn’t back up, and his quick wit and honest, insightful analysis have made him one of the most popular analysts covering the NHL. He has won three consecutive Canadian Screen Awards (2024-2026) for Best Sports Analyst for his work on Hockey Night in Canada on Sportsnet.

He has never met an opinion he wouldn’t share, or a hot take he couldn’t back up. He has won three consecutive Canadian Screen Awards (2024-2026) for Best Sports Analyst for his work on Hockey Night in Canada. That’s a hat trick, for those keeping score at home!

“Bieksa, or ‘Juice,’ as he’s known, has a dynamic mix of fierce, old-school toughness and disarming charisma,” adds Musoke. “He’ll be sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats!”

Off the ice, Bieksa has long lent his time, name, and skates to causes that support kids, families, and societal wellbeing. He’s spent his career proving that the best teammates show up for their communities, too.
